Urs is a Man Group veteran with 20+ years asset management experience. During his time at Man, the firm's AUM grew from $20bn to $120bn and the product range broadened significantly to include hedge funds, alternative risk premia, private markets and long only strategies. Through senior roles in product structuring and strategy, in addition to sales distribution and management, he developed a deep understanding of the entire product and distribution value chain.
From 2012 to 2021 Urs was MD, Director and Regional Manager for Switzerland and Liechtenstein at Man Group were he developed a broad network across banks, wealth managers, asset managers, pension funds, insurance groups and family offices. Before that he held senior roles at Man Group in the US, the UK and Australia.
Matthias is an industry expert who founded in 2001 Opalesque, the world's first digital newsletter focusing on hedge funds and alternative investments. With a team of researchers and contributors Opalesque to date has researched over 12,000 funds and distributed 407,000 articles as the leading news and research portal for alternative investments. Set up in 2009, Opalesque.TV is the first video channel dedicated to alternative investments with over 2 million views. The company has also been a pioneer in using webinar technology to help investors screen, understand and research large numbers of investment propositions.
